After the Race - Part 3

I was extremely elated to have crossed the finishline in second place (as anyone would be!) but as soon as I did and as soon as I stopped the bum seized up! ouch! It was so painful and I was having so much trouble walking. Mum and Rita helped me to the nearest cafe where we sat down for some lunch and a fruit smoothie! Eventually we made it back to the room and thankfully again mum and Rita were able to help me pack my bike and suitcase. It was there first lesson in packing "Casper" and they did a great job!
With me traveling as slow as I was, we had to plan well in advance to get to the awards dinner on time, a few hundred metres walk was taking me at least 10minutes! They were very patient though and we eventually made it and joined the rest of the West Aussies on a winning table!
Kate and Greg Mitchell! The funny thing was... Greg had a great day but unfortunately didn't place is in age group! We said he has to win a spot prize as every one on the table had an award or a prize! The final prize of the night was a new pair of $2000 race wheels! As we all sat there in suspense, the winning name was read out "congratulations to Gregor Mitchell!" Can you believe it! We were all yelling, "yah!" but it was not West Aussie Greg Mitchell, it was another guy! The chances of that!! You had to be there to win it and this other "Gregor" wasn't so it was a redraw!! He was too honest to take the wheels!
Ross, Michelle and Boyes all came away with awards and fantastic race days! Celebratory wine and beer was popular on our table!
Romano, Ron and Croc! Romano and Ron placed in their age groups and Croc came away with a $80 spot prize!!
Ross and Michelle! Unfortunately Michelle did not have the day she would have liked and but still all smiles! She is the one who gets called Kate all the time and vice versa. Can you see any resemblance because we certainly can't! We put it down to being in all out cycle gear, with helmets on!
The West Aussie table! By the end of the night the centre of the table was full with awards, spot prizes and empty bottle of beer and wine!
It is now time to regroup, refocus and concentrate on my Hawaii build for the next seven weeks! Once I get the "bum" muscle right again!!
